 Kapolei Students Organize Projects For Special Needs Kids

 Kapolei High School students who are a part of the Ho‘ola Leadership Academy orchestrated the “Vision of Hope” project as a way to integrate their special needs peers further into the Hurricane ‘ohana.

    Two students in particu- lar — Konapiliahai “Kona” Ho‘opi‘i and Malika Go- mez—areatthehelmof the initiative. They are en- rolled in nonprofit’s Center for Tomorrow’s Leaders class.
Coming up, the students plan to host a “reverse job fair,” during which local businesses meet with spe- cial needs teen to help them develop life skills and plan for the future.
“CTL allows students to look beyond themselves and challenges them to address problems in our community,” states Ho‘ola Academy director Justin Naeole.
