Dr. Mark Mugiishi joins the board of directors of First Hawaiian Inc., parent company of First Hawaiian Bank. Mugiishi is CEO of HMSA. He spent many years as a surgeon and taught surgery at University of Hawai‘i’s John A. Burns School of Medicine. He co-founded Endoscopy Institute of Hawai‘i and the Eye Surgery Center of Hawai‘i.
Kukui Claydon was selected to Hawai‘i Super Lawyers “Rising Star” list for business litigation and The Best Lawyers in America’s “Ones to Watch” list for commercial and real estate litigation. She currently is director of Starn, O’Toole, Marcus & Fisher. Claydon has represented corporate and public entities, national financial institutions, hotels and physicians groups.
Gene Young is senior project manager and associate principal at planning and landscape architecture firm HHF Planners. He was past president of the American Planning Association of Hawai‘i, an officer for Hui Hanahau‘oli, a member of Early School’s board of directors and a member of the Long-Range Planning Committee for First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu at Ko‘olau.

Taylor Brack is the new staff attorney for nonprofit ACLU Hawai‘i. Her background is in immigration law, public interest law, legal research and advocacy. She began her legal career working with immigrant communities as a law fellow at the Refugee & Immigration Law Clinic, where she served asylum- seeking families.
Jim Heidt joins the outsourced accounting firm Accumlus as an accounting manager. He brings 17 years of experience as an investment portfolio manager specializing in systems development, risk management and tax preparation. He spent 10 years in operations and financial management in the food and chemical industries.
Edna Magpantay-Monroe has been named dean of Hawai‘i Pacific University’s newly established School of Nursing. She was a founding member of Chaminade University of Honolulu’s School of Nursing. Magpantay- Monroe also has an extensive background in leading fundraising events. She was president of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Society Gamma Psi’s at-large chapter.
