 Dear Darah,
I would like to thank a young man who came to my aid moments after I had crashed my car into a parked box truck on the H-1 freeway before the Waimalu offramp. This happened in the early evening of Sunday, July 17. He came to my aid, walked me to his black sedan parked in front of the truck and gently sat me down in the backseat of his car. He then offered his hand for comfort and assured me that an ambulance was ar- riving shortly. I wished I had gotten his name so I could thank him personally. I was so overwhelmed by his com- passion and kindness. He was
truly my angel that evening.

Dear Emma,
I hope you are well and receiving physical therapy and lots of TLC from your family and friends. What a guardian angel this kind man is and I’m sure he will receive blessings for his al- truism. Please take good care of yourself and get lots of rest on your road to a healthy recovery.
Many years ago, I recalled reading an article in the news- paper about neighbors in Mā-
noa helping each other. Well, I’d like to tell you about good neighbors in Kaimukī, too. About a year ago, it was a simple job of retrieving our trash bin from the curbside, dragging it up the driveway and placing it in its designat- ed spot. However, this simple task has now become rather difficult for my wife and me. I am 91 years old and my wife is in her late 80s. I’ve had knee replacement surgery and an illness that affects my balance.
