 JUNE 29, 2022 MIDWEEK 25
     Book Pick Of The Week
The classic Strangers on a Train by Patricia
Highsmith came out in 1950, and the storyline
is just as good for the modern day as it was back
then. The novel was adapted into an Alfred
Hitchcock film in 1951, and Robert Sparr remade
it once again in Once You Kiss A Stranger. With a
narrative that’s stood the test of time, I wanted to
give it a try. A relatively short read, Strangers on a
Train focuses on committing the perfect murders
by trading victims. The book was fantastic, and I kind of want to watch Hitchcock’s movie version now. If anyone knows where I can watch the movie, please let me know!

Through its UTme! promotion, the Ala Moana store is offering cus- tomers a chance to design their own white 100% cotton shirt (adult all the way up to XXL or kid sizes) and tote bags (regular and mini) — and the best part is that proceeds from the sales will go to Hawai‘i Foodbank.

are in the store — and can take as little as a few minutes. You can sketch something, type out a message or choose from a library of stamps on the store’s tablet, or bring your own original photo. Those with their own images should make sure they’ re high-res-
So, that adorable picture your child drew for Mother’s Day? You can have it printed on a T-shirt to wear with pride. And any photos of your fur babies will look great on a tote bag that you can take anywhere with you. Or, you can print your own artwork! Creativity is encouraged, but if you’ re like me and lack any form of artistic talent, don’t worry. There are tons of fun collab- oration images to chose from.
Shar Tuiasoa (aka Punky Alo- ha), Lauren Roth and Jack Soren have lent their talents to premade and DIY creations — I’m quite fond of my Jas- per Wong plant tote. And there are also business/nonprofit partners that have fun prints, including Zippy’s, Bishop Mu- seum, Liliha Bakery, Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve x Candice Soon, Protect & Preserve Ha- wai‘i and so much more. These are all part of the UTme! col- lection titled Together in Ha-
wai‘i, which celebrates local businesses, people and places. Fans of pop culture can also tap into UNIQLO’s partner- ship with companies like Dis- ney/Pixar, Peanuts, Marvel and more. I’ ll be going back to make a mini tote featuring Christopher Robin reading to Pooh Bear, and based on the abundance of preset creations, I might walk out with way
