No doubt those lessons are what helped them to earn the coveted Jack Losch Little League Baseball World Series Team Sportsmanship Award.
“Overall, the experience was beyond our expectations,” states Brandon Sar- dinha, team manager and father of Coen, who dons the No. 5 jersey.
Sardinha hails from a family that’s known for its involvement with Hawai‘i baseball, and he’s been coaching off and on for 15 years. He says he wants to pass his passion for the game on to the boys he coaches.
“We are very humbled, blessed and appreciative to have been awarded this honor,” says Sardinha.
In any year, a trip to Williamsport means a long — albeit exciting — commitment for a team from Hawai‘i. However, this year, COVID restrictions necessitated team pods limit interactions with anyone outside of the players, coaches and manager. There were mo- ments of homesickness, for sure, but the
