For that reason, I started my Legislative Process in the Classroom program. Since 2003, I have invited students in Honolulu to learn about government through this two- part program.
This program is something I am extremely proud of and look forward to every year. The pandemic prevented in-person events for the past three years, which has made the opportunity to interact with students this year espe- cially rewarding. I enjoy hav- ing the chance to connect with students and see them become more enthusiastic and curious about what legislators do.
During this program, I en- joy asking the students what kind of law they would make if they were a representative. By posing questions like this, it is my hope to spark their curiosity and interest and help them to understand that their ideas and opinions mat- ter. Above all, my aim is to teach them that their voices
are powerful tools for creating change in their communities and the entire state.
