After moving from the Philippines to New York, Hosaka avidly attended fashion runways as well as did advertising for maga- zines like Mademoiselle, Marie Claire and Vogue.
“Simply, I love clothing. That’s it, period!” she laughs. “I feel more confident ... It brings something out of you whenever you have good clothing and shoes.”
 When she moved to Ha- wai‘i, she noticed the men- tality toward clothes was to dress simply and felt ex- pected to adapt to that. But she refused to give in, say- ing she would keep to her style no matter where she is.
