ast O‘ahu residents can take advan- tage of a new Family Child Care Es- sentials certificate program. It was
created by Windward Community College in response to a need for child care to support working families.
Students will learn about setting up a high-quality family child care business, and running it successfully. This includes financial record-keeping, marketing, be- coming licensed and working with chil- dren and families.
Tuition for the Family Child Care Es- sentials program is free. Students will also receive course materials and additional re- sources at no cost. Participation in the pro- gram is paid for by the Hawai‘i Resilience Fund and Omidyar ‘Ohana Fund of the Ha- wai‘i Community Foundation through 2022. Classes start weekly with open enrollment.
“Finding child care is a struggle for our ‘ohana in Hawai‘i. This new grant-funded pilot program is attempting to assist with this challenge,” states program coordinator
