the department, Morgan has already established a reputa- tion as a model firefighter by pursuing new skills and con- tinuing his training. His su- pervisor highlighted his abil- ities during a recent incident where he helped to establish hose lines that controlled a fire. It allowed 14 residents to evacuate safely. He is the son of retired battalion chief David Morgan, who was a previous Wahiawā Lions Outstanding Firefighter of the Year awardee.
Officer Jon Nguyen was selected as this year’s recip- ient by the Wahiawā Police Station for his dedication to the community and his ability to take on the many challenges of the job. He has been with Honolulu Police Department for 14 years. Ac- cording to the station, Nguy- en’s tremendous work ethic is apparent during his daily work shift as he conducts fre- quent highly visible patrols in his area to demonstrate police presence, resulting in the deterrence and reduction of property crimes. Nguyen addresses parking and traf-
fic complaints through con- sistent traffic enforcement, completes frequent inspec- tions of parks and schools to deter criminal activity, and checks with banks and other businesses to assist in added security measures.
Meanwhile, firefighter Ka- hale Morgan is a member of Wahiawā Fire Station’s sec- ond platoon and has served with Honolulu Fire Depart- ment for nearly four years. According to his supervi- sors, in his brief time with
