Family’s North Shore Plumeria Farm Opens To The Public

 Established in 1973, Little Plumeria Farms celebrates 50 years on O‘ahu’s North Shore. The local farm is owned and operated by orig- inal owner Jim Little, who now shares duties with his son, Clark, and grandson, Dane — marking three gen- erations of plumeria farm- ers.

These tours are offered at 9:15 and 11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Prices are $45 per person, or $25 for children age 13 and under.
 As part of this year’s cel- ebration, the plumeria farm will be open to the public for the first time ever with tours from now through Oct. 31, when the flowers are in bloom.
“It’s finally going to hap- pen. People can now visit the farm,” states Jim. “I’ m excited to share this slice of paradise with visitors from Hawai‘i and around the world. You’ll see why I’ve been hooked on this beauti- ful flower for 50 years.”
Meanwhile, Dane, the youngest generation run- ning the farm, states, “When my dad, Clark, was in his 20s he was focused on the farm helping out my grand- father every day. Now that Iaminmy20s,Iamdoing the same thing. I am follow- ing in their footsteps. I love being at the farm and shar- ing the flowers and stories with everyone. It’s a special place for me.”
In addition, a private tour is around 1 and a half hours in duration and includes visiting restricted areas of the farm with one of the Littles as your guide.
Local kama‘āina receive 20% discount on all tours during the season.
Clark, known around the world for his shorebreak wave photography, has been helping his father at the farm since he was in his teens.
The private tour also includes a lei greeting, signed copy of Jim Little’s book Growing Plumerias in Hawai‘i and Around the World, and a plumeria cul- tivar selected from the gift shop.

Partially guided group tours of Little Plumeria Farms are an hour long, and include picking plumeria flowers.
