Offering A Gift For MW Readers

Congrats to MidWeek! You can tell the quality of a newspaper not only through the writers, editors or the stories written, but through the quality of its readers. For the past two years I have had the privilege and honor of writing “The Art of Thinking SMART” for MidWeek, focusing on financial, leadership, productivity and other helpful living tips. Despite newspapers nationwide closing shop or downsizing, MidWeek has now been going strong for 30 years!

My favorite part of writing for MidWeek are the questions, comments and feedback from all of you, the readers. Some of the topics, more specifically ones related to Social Security, taxes and retirement planning, resonate the most. With many of you starting to retire or thinking about it, I am thankful that I can help in any way.

One topic that surprisingly got quite a bit of feedback was my article on “Correcting Common Writing Errors” (March 2013, artofthinkingsmart.com/go/g rammar/). It seems I hit a nerve with the common grammatical errors we see every day. Many of you offered your own pet peeves that would have been enough for a series of articles!

I also have been asked to be a keynote speaker for many of your events, conferences, classes and meetings. Some of my favorite moments have been speaking at schools and helping our students, who as our future have a great deal to look forward to, but also have to plan their financial and career future in a different economy and world.

I have a passion for helping people make smarter decisions in life, especially financial and leadership ones.

Many of you who recognize me around town ask how I choose the topics I write about. I get many ideas from you! I invite each of you to please continue to engage and interact with me; it helps me write on subjects that are helpful to you.

In celebration of MidWeek‘s 30th anniversary and to take time to answer your most pressing questions from my articles, I’m hosting a free Social Security and Retirement Income Strategy webinar on July 30 at 5:30 p.m. I will have a question-and-answer session afterward. All you need is a computer, tablet or smartphone, as well as Internet access, and you can join in! To signup, visit artofthinkingsmart.com/sswebinar.

I am happy to be a part of the wonderful team at MidWeek and look forward to continue writing for you. Here’s to another 30 years!
