New Shops, Eateries Afoot At Aikahi Park Shopping Center

By TERRI HEFNER

Not to let the ever-evolving Kailua Town attract all the attention, Aikahi Park Shopping Center is enjoying a revitalization of its own with a new paint job, resurfaced parking lot and the addition of a number of new businesses.

In September, the center welcomed the opening of Bricks & Minifigs – a place where enthusiasts can shop and trade all things LEGO – in the former Bank of Hawaii space. It’s open 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays. For more information, call 254-1500.

Three new restaurants also now call the center home. Boston’s North End Pizza Aikahi (254-8055), the Kailua Town pizza bakery’s sister store, already is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. It plans to begin delivery service soon. The new Daiichi Ramen is next door in the former Pizza Hut suite, and Gyotaku Japanese Restaurant is slated to open in early 2014 in the free-standing space vacated by Sizzler.

The businesses join anchor tenants Safeway, Tamura’s Fine Wines and Liquors, Burger King, Navy Federal Credit Union and the Chevron station, as well as L&L Drive Inn, Muddy Waters Cafe, Willow Tree Korean Restaurant and more center shops and services such as Aikahi Dental and Liberty Dialysis.

Aikahi Park Shopping Center is located at 25 Kaneohe Bay Drive in Kailua. For more information, call 734-8822.
