“We always thought if we could live in a paradise someday, then we said, ‘why not now?'” says owner Mami Koizumi, who was born and raised in Tokyo. “Our boutique is for the adult with a luxe but casual island style. Such as for vacationists, we want them to stop by on the first day of their trip and find their wardrobe for their vacation in Hawaii.”

Some of the brands you’ll find are LNA, Velvet, Sundry, Sol Angeles, Tigerlily, Matt Bernson Kayu, Current/Elliott, Monrow and more. In buying for the store, Koizumi finds inspiration from her travels around the world. She carefully selects products that are timeless and contemporary, including soft and sumptuous tees, relaxing and gorgeous dresses, and chic accessories.

“The name of our shop, middi, is actually inspired by the Canal du Midi in France,” explains Koizumi. “We love how the word sounds and the meaning of it being a canal that connects people and things.”
