Alive Ballet Theatre will present A Journey March 30 at Paliku Theatre, a ballet in two acts that follows the fanciful fable of three young mermaids who leave their watery home for the outside world on the advice of a lying shark.

By the end of their adventures, the trio learns the key to the true meaning of happiness. (Psst: It comes from within our hearts and from sharing it with others.)

With 20 years of teaching experience in Hawaii and many more with ballet troupes in South America, artistic director and teacher Maria Jose Beltran runs her Honolulu-based ballet school for all ages and emphasizes each dancer’s unique creative achievements. Several of her students are Windward residents, and this is the dance school’s third year staging a show at Paliku Theatre.

Tickets cost $20 and $15 and can be reserved by calling 277-2731 or 277-6619. Showtimes are 4 and 7 p.m. March 30 on the Windward Community College campus.
