Meeting To Discuss Rail Plans

West Oahu residents worried about the future of commuting in the Pearl City area are urged to attend a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Pearl Ridge Elementary School cafeteria.

The community meeting will be led by Harrison Rue, the city’s transit-oriented development administrator, with a focus on plans for the Leeward Community College, Pearl Highlands and Pearlridge stations in the future rail project. Pedestrian and bicyclist options also will be addressed by Chad Taniguchi of Hawaii Bicycling League.

The town hall meeting is sponsored by state Sens. David Ige and Donna Mercado Kim; Reps. Aaron Johnson, K. Mark Takai, Gregg Takayama and Roy Takumi; and City Councilmembers Carol Fukunaga and Breene Harimoto.

‘Olelo Community Television will film the event for a later rebroadcast.
