Maya Bella Boutique

Cousins Sloane Ketcham and Jsohnel Pacarro (right, inset) have always dreamed of opening a boutique, and in September their dream came true with the opening of Maya Bella Boutique in Kailua.

Both graduates of Kahuku High School and raised in Pupukea, Ketcham and Pacarro discovered their passion for fashion while working in retail during college.

“For us, it’s about building a brand, a mission, a motto,” they explain. “We believe in small businesses and the opportunities they create for not just us, but for our employees, their ohana and the community that we are dedicated to serving.”

The store offers a great selection of unique and versatile pieces that can easily go from day to night. There also is a great selection of accessories, including an assortment of handmade jewels from some of the most notable, as well as up-and-coming Hawaii designers.

In addition to Maya Bella’s own line, you’ll find some of the latest designs by Lani, Indah, Ramona LaRue, Lush, Audrey 3+1, Double Zero and more. Among jewelry by local designers are Urban Sand, Makai Jewelry, A.N.D. Jewelry, Midori Jewelry, Anchor My Love and Alina Designs.

Ketcham and Pacarro, both moms of three young children, also plan to launch a girls collection at the end of this month. The store is named after Pacarro’s oldest daughter, Maya, and Ketcham’s oldest daughter, Bella.

Also, customers who bring in a gently used piece of work attire to donate to Women in Need will receive 20 percent off their entire purchase. Ketcham and Pacarro say their goal is to donate 100 pieces to the local nonprofit.

Maya Bella Boutique is located at 35 Kainehe St.
