Make Way For Dog Walk June 1

Hui ‘Ilio Hawaii marks its 10th year at the Hawaii Kai Dog Walk, set for 7:30 a.m. June 1 at Hawaii Kai Park and Ride.

Plans also include activities before and after, such as free souvenir photos, doggie pools, exhibits, booths and games. Pre-registration fee is $20 by May 16, and all dog owners signed up by then will get a free T-shirt and tote bag of goodies. Forms are available at hui-ilio.org, at East Oahu pet clinics and stores, and at the dog park itself.

The walk covers 2.3 miles through the community, with a mini route available for smaller and older dogs. Proceeds support the club, which partnered with the city to create and maintain the dog park. The park has been open since 2008 at the makai end of the Park & Ride lot.

Also welcome are gifts for three animal welfare groups, such as pet food, bedding and toys.
