Leilehua Band Boosters To Host Craft Fair

Hawaii’s tropical autumn season means it’s time for the Leilehua High School Band Boosters to swing into action.

The nonprofit group’s craft fair is setfor9a.m. to 2p.m. Sept. 29 in the high school cafeteria, offering plenty of food and craft items to choose from.

The fourth annual benefit will have Hoku BBQ Chicken, baked goods, live music and entertainment by the band students, door prizes, an orchid sale and a variety of craft items suitable for early holiday shoppers. (Interested vendors call 224- 4080.)

“Come spend time with us and enjoy,” urges the craft fair poster.

Proceeds help pay for the repair, maintenance and purchase of equipment and instruments for the busy band program. For example, a free fall pops concert is planned by the advanced and symphonic bands for 7 p.m. Sept. 19 in the school gym. The pep band performs at weekend football games, and various sections rehearse throughout the week — outside of class time.

Booster club members also can be found building props, chaperoning events and taking care of equipment.
