Learn To Age Gracefully With Right Touch

BY DR. HUGO HIGA
owner of Hugo Higa, M.D. LLC

What does “aging gracefully” mean? To me, it means looking your best at any age. It’s the difference between people noticing you’ve had cosmetic surgery versus people telling you how great you look. With all the recent social media chatter about Madonna’s appearance at the Grammys, it’s obvious that cosmetic surgery is not attractive when it drastically alters your appearance.

I have been an ophthalmologist and oculofacial surgeon (an ophthalmologist that specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive aspects of the eyelids, tear duct system, orbit and adjacent face) for more than 25 years. After correcting my patients’ vision through cataract surgery or other procedures, they are thrilled to see so clearly, but many of them have commented, “I look so old!” They suddenly notice the under eye bags and wrinkles on their face, droopy eyelids, saggy brows and discolored and loose skin. This is where the cosmetic side of my practice can help.

(Top) Male – bilateral brow lift, bilateral upper eyelid ptosis (droopy eyelid) repair and blepharoplasty, and bilateral lower eyelid blepharoplasty. (Above) Female – bilateral upper ptosis repair and blepharoplasty.

Some of the most common cosmetic issues for my patients — most being over 50 years old —include droopy eyelids and brows, eye bags, saggy skin and wrinkles. We offer many treatment options, both surgical and non-surgical, and the cosmetic industry continues to offer new innovations for excellent, natural looking results to help you look your best — more youthful, rested and attractive — but still you. From performing cosmetic eye procedures and facelifts to utilizing skin lasers, fillers, thread lifts and more, I truly enjoy helping my patients see, look and feel better.

We’re having our first “Beauty Brunch” event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 25 at my office in the Pan Am Building (1600 Kapiolani Blvd., Ste. 105). The event is limited to the first 50 people who RSVP to rsvp.drhiga@gmail.com. Come and learn more about the cosmetic side of my practice and I’ll be there to answer any of your questions. We’ll also have guest speakers, prize giveaways and exclusive discounts for attendees.
