Kahala Mall has extended its entry deadline until June 15 for its “Sing 2012” keiki vocal competition.

Last year’s inaugural event drew a standing-room-only crowd to the mall’s center court as children ages 9 to 18 competed before professional judges for gift certificates and prizes.

This year’s panel includes Lehua Kalima, Hawaii Five-O production supervisor Angela Laprete, ADR Talent agency vice president Naz Anderson and singer-musician Kamakakehau Fernandez.

Hawaii youths must submit a minimum 1-minute YouTube video clip of their talent to be eligible as a contestant. Clips may be emailed to kmsingcompetition@gmail.com or dropped by to the mall management office by June 15. The 24 semi-finalists will be notified by June 22 in order to prepare for the semifinals at 6 p.m. July 25-26.

Contestants also should include a one-page, double-spaced biography describing the singer as well as all contact information (name, address, phone number and email address).

Semifinalists also must submit a CD with the chosen karaoke song that they wish to perform; it should be 3 minutes or less in length.

The final competition is set for 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 11, with a special performance by the Colby Benson Band. For more information, call Jessi Everett at 732-7736 or email jeverett@kahalamallcenter.com.
