Windward Community College students will present their adaptation of The Fall of the House of Usher this week at Paliku Theatre.

Based on the short story by Edgar Allan Poe, the play takes the audience on a dark journey alongside Edgar, who witnesses eerie events while visiting ill friends. The piece was adapted for the stage by playwright Steve Berkoff and also includes music and dance.

Director Taurie Kinoshita says the students have created a production that “oozes fear in this spooky, surreal-istic unfolding of a dark metaphoric tale by the Romantic genius – Poe, father of the detective genre and the herald of all American science diction.”

Curtain goes up at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 4 p.m. Sunday. Visit windward.hawaii.edu or call 779-3456.
