KCC Joins With Pacific U. On Degree Plan

The pursuit of higher education can take people all over the world, but Kapiolani Community College and Pacific University in Oregon want to make that journey a little easier for students from abroad.

A January agreement between the two institutions means that international students who are admitted to KCC also will receive a letter of conditional offer from Pacific. Should these students successfully obtain an associate’s degree from KCC with a minimum 2.70 grade-point average, they will be allowed to enroll at Pacific with junior class standing.

This new policy builds on an existing agreement with University of Hawaii community colleges that allows two-year degree graduates to transition smoothly into a four-year degree with Pacific.

Located in Forest Grove, Pacific places high emphasis on Hawaii-born students because 20 percent of its 1,783 undergraduate students hail from the Islands. The private college also maintains a Hawaii office at 677 Ala Moana Blvd. to serve both prospective students and alumni.
