Kapolei Tourney Nets Thousands For Junior Achievement Hawaii

The 13th annual Junior Achievement of Hawaii Golf Classic took place last month at Kapolei Golf Course, and all proceeds from the tournament, which was sponsored by Finance Factors, benefitted Junior Achievement of Hawaii.

The nonprofit provides programs that encourage financial success among young people.

Approximately 165 golfers participated, and the event raised a total of $40,580 for Junior Achievement.

“Our students’ education must extend beyond the traditional curriculum, and Finance Factors is proud to support an organization that teaches them the important foundations of financial literacy,” explained company president Steven Teruya, “We are grateful to all who participate in the Junior Achievement of Hawaii Golf Classic, and we hope to see Junior Achievement of Hawaii continue to nourish the minds of Hawaii’s young leaders.”

“Finance Factors’ continued support of the Junior Achievement of Hawaii Golf Classic is helping us create a generation of smart young business leaders,” said Roz Burton-Torres, president of JAH.

Junior Achievement teaches students about issues that include entrepreneurship, workplace skills and personal money management.

During the 2011-2012 school year, the organization worked with more than 7,500 students in grades K through 12 throughout the state.
