Alumni ties are strong among the Cougars, as was proved recently by a generous gift to Kaiser High School from Alternate Energy Inc.

The residential and commercial solar company gave $32,000 to the school to finish improvements to its weight room. AEI president and founder, Bruce Ekimura, is a 1974 Kaiser graduate who hopes to maintain success for all of KHS’s athletic teams, according to Chad Ikei, volunteer strength and conditioning coach.

“Last November Mr. Ekimura donated $5,000 during one of our fundraising events to help kick start our new weight room wishlist,” Ikei said. “Then last month I received a phone call from him inquiring about how much more money was needed to complete our weight room. Next thing I know he tells me he’s writing a check for $32,000 – the exact amount I mentioned to him … simply amazing and unbelievably generous.”

The upgrades will benefit more than 600 student-athletes, as well as contribute to an enhanced curriculum for the physical education and health and fitness classes.
