Kahuku Medical Center Adding Hospitalists, New ER Team

Kahuku Medical Center recently added hospitalist care and a new group of board-certified Emergency Physicians in an effort to maintain quality care.

Hospitalists enable patients admitted from the ER to receive care at the Kahuku facility when a primary care physician is not available. KMC’s partnership with Dr. Rahul Hooda and his Internal Medicine Services group has made this service possible for Koolauloa’s only hospital.

“It’s an honor to work with Kahuku and the Windward coast community,” Hooda said. “I look forward to providing the best care to our patients.”

KMC also has contracted with Hawaii Emergency Physicians Associated (HEPA) to serve as the physician group managing the patients who come to Kahuku for emergency care. Eight physicians from HEPA have joined KMC.

“We’ve been warmly welcomed by both hospital staff and patients,” said Dr. Oakley Davis, KMC’s emergency department medical director.

“Together with the emergency department staff, we’re focused on providing excellent care and high patient satisfaction. As the hospital adds new services, we look forward to treating more patients and, when appropriate, admitting them at Kahuku so they remain near family and home.”

“We have been so pleased with our new partnership with HEPA and the new hospitalist program,” KMC administrator Stephany Vaioleti noted. “The combined commitment to emergency medicine and inpatient care is on par with Kahuku Medical Center’s renewed mission to provide high quality care.

“We have already noticed an increase in patient satisfaction.”
