Kahuku Hosts Math And Baking Contest

There is always time for pi(e). Kahuku High & Intermediate School library is celebrating Pi Week throughout the week of March 9.

Select math classes will participate in a pi (3.14159) recitation contest. Finalists will then get to compete in a pie-eating contest (apple, banana, custard, etc.) courtesy of Ted’s Bakery in Sunset Beach. The bakery will also supply its famous pies as prizes for Pi day.

For its part, the library sponsors a pi(e) bake-off March 10, open to all students and family members.

Winners receive a trophy, a gift certificate and bragging rights for creating the Tastiest Pi(e), Most Creative Pi(e) and Most Healthy Pi(e). Guest judges will do the tasting, and afterward the audience will be invited to sample the entries.
