Overall what did you think?

I liked it. It was a little slow-paced compared to other movies, but I think that may have almost been the whole point. In this technology age, the movie reminds us to reconnect with the people around us on a personal level.

Without giving away the ending, what was one of your favorite scenes?

My favorite scene was the ending. It seemed slightly contrived, but then again, I was crying like a baby so it obviously got to me.

On a scale of one to four stars, what would you rate this film?

★★★

What did you think of the cinematography?

The style gave a quasi home-movie feel at times with micro-bursts of quick zoom in many scenes. Personally not my favorite type of cinematography, but for the purpose of the film it was appropriate and complementary to the story-line.

To whom would you recommend this movie?

Those who enjoy dialogue in a movie and don’t need a lot of action.

Did any of the actors stand out?

I don’t think any one actor stole the spotlight, but I really liked Rae Dawn Chong, who plays Carol. Her acting was very authentic and genuine, the type of person I would want as a friend.

Did you identify with any of the characters?

Absolutely. I think I identified a little with each character. The characters were very real and dealt with “real-life” problems. Each character was searching for purpose and happiness. Don’t we all?

What’s your favorite movie snack?

Sour Patch Kids and Icee, but I’m trying to cut down on my sugar intake, so we got popcorn and mochi crunch instead.

On a different note, what’s new with you?

I launched SurferGirlJewelry.com in December, and have been really enjoying the creative process of designing and making beach-inspired jewelry. We’re looking at the Japanese market and hoping to make a trip later this year.

I’m newly certified as a meteorologist and also newly wed. We made a big move to the Big Island last year, and I’ve been commuting to and from work on Oahu racking up the Hawaiian miles!
