This year, Hawaii Asphalt Paving Industry (HAPI) celebrates 25 years of providing service to the asphalt industry.

At its inception, leaders within our industry came together to form an organization that promotes the advancement of asphalt-pavement technologies and improves pavement performance.

Our organization has supported the asphalt-paving industry with its collaborative research and statewide training for pavement contractors, engineers and technicians.

As executive director, I work on behalf of the more than 2,100 asphalt-pavement producers, laydown contractors, pavement treatment suppliers and consultants of HAPI members in Hawaii, plus members based on the Mainland.

My role is to provide training seminars and workshops, as well as address concerns from government agencies, design consultants and elected officials. These efforts have increased the visibility of our asphalt industry, and also have advanced asphalt-pavement solutions throughout Hawaii.

I am honored to be a part of such a great organization. After 25 years, the members of HAPI are more committed than ever to helping our communities and the essential roadways that connect us all. HAPI members design and construct every type of roadway, airfield, harbor, playground, parking lot, athletic field and racetrack you can imagine.

HAPI and its members are committed to improving the quality of our roads.

By keeping abreast of new methods and technologies, Hawaii can rest assured we have the best technology at work to improve the roads we rely on everyday. We are improving Hawaii’s roads — one lane at a time.
