Huwaran (Role Model) awards
Kalayaan (Freedom) Philippines Hawaii International hosted its eighth annual Huwaran (Role Model) Awards for Outstanding Filipino Americans of Hawaii at Pacific Beach Hotel. Honorees included Bryan Andaya for community service, Cecilia Villafuerte for leadership and Zhoydell Magaoay for education. Lynne Gutierrez received the People’s Choice Award. The function also served as the first Mr. Pinoy (Filipino young man) scholarship pageant.
