Hui Makaala presents its 46th annual scholarship fund luncheon and fashion show July 26 at Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort featuring Manuheali‘i, Kini Zamora and Allison Izu.

Manuheali‘i celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, and offers quintessential, modern aloha attire for men, women and children. Founded by designer Danene Lunn, Manuheali‘i can be found at its Honolulu gallery (930 Punahou St.), Kailua boutique 5 Hoolai St.) or online at manuhealii.com.

Kini Zamora, who graduated from Honolulu Community College’s Fashion Technology Program and continued his education at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, was a finalist on Lifetime’s popular reality TV show Project Runway Season 13. He recently launched a ready-to-wear and couture collection, a bridal collection available exclusively at WhiteHOT Hawaii, and KZ Hawaii featuring casual aloha wear.

Allison Izu designs fashions for petite women 5-foot-6 and shorter. Best known for her denim collection, Allison Izu has expanded to ready-to-wear pieces using sustainable fabrics such as organic cotton, rayon and bamboo. Made in Hawaii, her designs can be found in Nordstrom, The Cut Collective, and online at allisonizu.com.

The upcoming fashion show takes place in the Hilton’s Tapa Ballroom. Boutique sales and a silent auction opens at 9 a.m., followed by the luncheon at noon and the fashion show at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $75.

Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort

The iconic Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort served as the backdrop for this photo spread showcasing fashions by Manuheali‘i, Kini Zamora and Allison Izu — the featured designers of the upcoming Hui Makaala scholarship fund luncheon and fashion show July 26.

Recently, the resort announced the completion of a $7 million renovation of its Tapa Conference Center, which includes Tapa Ballroom, Palace Lounge, Honolulu Suites and Iolani Suites. The new 16,536-square-foot ballroom, which
is the location of the upcoming fashion show, has been redesigned with inspiration by patterns of Hawaiian tapa expressed through color, images, textures, patterns and artwork by local artists. A large tapa-inspired three-dimensional relief sculpture, commissioned by talented local artists Georg James and John Dinsmore, is the new focal point of the space. Supporting artwork includes a collection of tapa cloth in koa frames featured throughout the ballroom.

Situated on 22 oceanfront acres of Waikiki’s widest stretch of beach, Hilton Hawaiian Village is Waikiki’s only resort destination. Guests can enjoy exotic wildlife, gardens, ponds and waterfalls; five pools including Waikiki’s largest Super Pool and longest waterslide; more than 90 shops and services; 20 restaurants, lounges and bars; as well as a spectacular fireworks show every Friday evening.
