Banks Join Forces To Help Community

Blood Bank of Hawai‘i recently wrapped up its “Give Blood. End Hunger.” campaign with Hawai‘i Foodbank. Every blood donation made between December 2020 and January 2021 was matched with a meal given through Hawai‘i Foodbank. In total, 9,468 meals were provided to the community. $5M Gives Program Shot In The Arm

University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine welcomed 77 first-year medical students to its Learning Community Program. In support of the initiative, HMSA Foundation donated $5 million to establish the HMSA Learning Innovations Endowment. The facility will be named the HMSA Learning Innovations Center in recognition of HMSA’s contribution and commitment. “With this endowment as a resource, JABSOM will now have the long-term funding needed to continue to innovate and evolve our medical education delivery with the needs of our people and our islands, “ states UH president David Lassner.
