Maryknoll Commits To Mālama Honua

Navigator Nainoa Thompson of Polynesian Voyaging Society (far left) and Maryknoll School students planted a tree on campus to commemorate Maryknoll’s school-wide commitment to Mālama Honua (care for the planet). Thompson was recognized as Maryknoll’s 2018 Kekumano Honoree for his service and leadership in the global community. The tree planting was also part of Polynesian Voyaging Society’s Propagate Peace Project, which aims to plant 1 million trees around the world to offset the carbon footprint of crewmember flights during Hōkūle‘a’s worldwide voyage.
