Yutaka Aoki (left), consul general of the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu, bestows the 2022 Fall Imperial Decoration, The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with neck ribbon upon Michael Allen Carr, president and CEO of USS Missouri Memorial Association Inc. Carr is recognized for his contributions to promoting reconciliation and strengthening the friendship between Japan and the United States. He has been dedicated to creating a World War II exhibit from standpoints of both Japan and the U.S. at the Battleship Missouri Memorial — the ship he regards as a symbol of international peace. UH Warriors Score Big With McDonald’s Gift

McDonald’s Restaurants of Hawai‘i recently presented a check for $15,000 to Timmy Chang (left), head coach of University of Hawai‘i Warriors football team, and Claire Tong (second from left), Na Koa Football Club president. The donation wrapped up the Big Mac Mondays campaign during which McDonald’s donated $500 for every UH Warriors’ touchdown from the 2022 season. Teens Named Youths Of The Year

Hawai‘i teens Arissa Kahaiali‘i (left) and Alia Fatty (right) were recognized by Kirk Douglas, director of youth development services of Boys & Girls Club of America, for its Youth of the Year competition. The Youth of the Year title is a prestigious honor bestowed upon an exemplary young person in recognition of their leadership, service, academic excellence and dedication to live a healthy lifestyle. Kahaiali‘i received Hawai‘i State Youth of the Year, while Fatty was acknowledged as Hawai‘i Military Youth of the Year. They will serve as ambassadors for all teens in the state, received a $2,500 college scholarship from Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and will advance to the regional competitions this summer. Health Center All Smiles After Donation

Hawai‘i Dental Service Foundation recently presented a $500,000 check to Waimānalo Health Center at its new Kāne‘ohe dental clinic, Hale Ola ‘Akolu Luluku. The grant will allow the center to serve more dental patients to meet the community’s growing needs with more dental operatories (dentist workstations) and other state-of-the-art equipment.
