Veteran Celebrates 100th Birthday

World War II nisei veteran Robert Sato (center) celebrated his 100th birthday April 11 at Maunalani Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kaimukī. Pictured with him are fellow WWII nisei veterans 98-year-old Willy Toda (left) and 101-year-old Dr. Takashi Manago. Sato and Toda served in the U.S. Army’s Military Intelligence Service. Manago was part of the Army’s 100th Infantry Battalion. Sato also received special certificates from Gov. Josh Green and Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi. McDonald’s Donates To Nā Koa Football Club

McDonald’s of Hawai‘i presented a check for $16,500 to  Nā Koa Football Club during a University of Hawai‘i men’s volleyball game. McDonald’s of Hawai‘i committed $500 for each of the 33 touchdowns scored by the UH last year.
