Hire Leeward Job Fair Is Today

More than 50 local companies looking to fill Leeward-based jobs are gathered at University of Hawaii West Oahu from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today (Jan. 8) for the second annual Hire Leeward Job and Career Fair.

Among the participants are Aloha Pacific Federal Credit Union, Big City Diner, Central Pacific Bank, Child and Family Service, Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii LLP, Hawaii Air National Guard, Hawaii Independent Energy, J.W. Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa, Kahi Mohala Behavioral Health and The Queen’s Medical Center.

“There are more than 53,000 jobs on the Leeward Coast alone, which makes a job available to just about every Leeward adult who wants to work close to home,” stated City Councilwoman Kymberly Marcos Pine, who founded the Hire Leeward Initiative.

“Our goal is to make residents aware of these opportunities so they can improve their quality of life with their families and get out of the painful traffic that they spend so much time in.

“Companies attending the fair,” Pine added, “recognize that employees who spend less time in traffic and more time with their families are more productive and bring more value to the company. We want to support these employers by connecting them to our quality candidates from the Leeward Coast.”

The job fair companies are looking to fill full-time and part-time jobs in professional, managerial, technical, clerical, transportation, logistics, public service, education, construction, medical retail, service and sales positions.

The fair also will feature personal and career development workshops, as well as business seminars.
