Water Park Teen Party Offers Rides, Dancing, Music

Youths ages 14-19 are invited to a huge party featuring live music, dancing and water rides fro 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday at Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii in Kapolei.

The High School Block Party is sponsored by groups such as Hawaii Meth Project, and its purpose is to provide teenagers with an evening of fun in a safe, drug-free environment.

From 6 to 9 p.m., water rides will be available — and there will be a party in the wave pool until 8 p.m. The event also has arranged for DJs, bands and dance crews on four stages. Teens will have the chance to win $500 in a variety of competitions throughout the night, including a dance battle, kendama contest and Hawaii’s Fittest Teen Challenge.

“Summer and graduation season is an important time of the year to our youths,” stated Hawaii Meth Project executive director David Earles. “The High School Block Party provides teens a unique space to have fun in a positive environment.

“We are proud to be a major sponsor for the third consecutive year as we hope this event will set an upbeat, drug-free tone for other summer celebrations and beyond.”

Hawaii Meth Project also will have a presence at the event to provide more information on how to live a drug-free lifestyle.

Proceeds from the block party benefit Hawaii High Schools Athletic Association’s Save Our Sports campaign.
