Herbert Fukumae Wins $250 Foodland Spree

On Thursday, Herbert Fukumae wanted some snacks, so he took a trip to Foodland on Dillingham Boulevard.

As he made his purchase at 3:20 p.m., MidWeek‘s representative approached Herbert with a simple question. He answered correctly and instantly won a $250 Foodland spree.

“I like shopping at Foodland because of the short lines (the company has an End Long Lines promise, opening another checkstand when there are three or more customers in line during peak hours),” said this week’s Mystery Shopper, a retired auto repairman. “I also like their poke, it’s very good.”

Herbert was born and raised in Aiea, and has four grown children and seven grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys fishing and gardening. He also likes to read MidWeek. “I like to read Larry Price’s column,” he said. “And Dan Boylan is very interesting too.”
