Hanauma Bay Talks Focus On Fish, Coasts

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve presents free public lectures each Thursday night this month on a variety of UH Sea Grant-supported UH graduate trainee research projects. The programs begin at 6:30 p.m. in the park’s Cynthia M. Bond Memorial Theater on the dates below.

• Feb. 6 — “He‘eia Fishpond” with Angela Hi‘ilei Kawelo, founder and executive director of Paepae o He‘eia;

• Feb. 13 — “Managing Hawaii’s Coasts” with Leo Asuncion, planning program manager of Hawaii Coastal Zone Management Program;

• Feb. 20 — “Got Tang?

Development of Culture Methods for Yellow Tang as a Way to Help Conserve Hawaii’s Coral Reefs” with Chad Callan, Oceanic Institute research scientist;
