Give Thanks For Kalua Turkeys

Thanksgiving is turkey fundraisers in Windward. Kailua High School already has announced its imu roast for Nov. 27 to benefit its athletic programs. KEY Project in Kahaluu and Enchanted Lake Elementary School also want to roast your turkeys (or other meats).

Most will sell out well in advance. Details are below.

* KEY Project: Tickets go on sale Oct. 27 for Kualoa-Heeia Ecumenical Youth Project’s 28th Thanksgiving Imu project. Fee is $20, first-come, first-served, for one of 600 spaces in the nonprofit’s imu pit. Proceeds support community center operations. For tickets, call 239-5777 or John Reppun at 277-8686.

* Enchanted Lake Elementary sells cooking space for $20 for an aluminum tray of thawed, seasoned, well-wrapped meat. The school also has Waimanalo Sweet Corn, $8 for a 3-pound bag. Proceeds are for classroom computers, and mail-in deadline is Nov. 15, checks payable to the school, 770 Keolu Drive, Kailua, HI 96734. Write “imu” in lower left corner of envelope and include phone number and a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Bring trays from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Nov 26; pickup is 7 to 9 a.m. Nov. 27.
