Gillia

In business for just a year, local label Gillia has quickly gained a growing following for its beachy chic line of women’s fashions. “It’s easy and flowy for the beach, but chic and sophisticated for town at the same time,” explains owner/designer Saori Santos. “And it’s good with slippers or heels.”

Santos, who was born and raised in Tokyo, moved to Hawaii after falling in love with and marrying a local boy. She worked in the fashion industry in Japan for 11 years, but after working as a designer for a few different lines, she decided to start her own company.

“All prints, colors, fabrics and styles are original,” she adds. “And we will start expanding our collection to swimwear and beach accessories, such as beach bags, blankets and scarves.” Featured here is Gillia’s spring collection, available in stores by early March. Gillia is available at various boutiques on Oahu, including Becca Beach in Kahala, Fighting Eel, Spiral Girl in Ala Moana, Aloha Aina in Waikiki, Collins & 8th and Guava Shop, and in stores on the Big Island, Maui and in Japan.
