Fried Chicken Franchise Opens In Mililani

Fried chicken has a new name in Mililani. The state’s first Wingstop franchise opened Sept. 4 at The Gateway in Mililani Mauka.

The Dallas-based chain sells cooked-to-order chicken, featuring both traditional and boneless wings and chicken strips in 11 flavors, including Mango Habanero, Garlic Parmesan and Teriyaki.

In addition to sides like seasoned fries, vegetable sticks and cole slaw, the Hawaii location also will feature two state-exclusive (and very familiar) side dishes: rice and macaroni salad.

“We are thrilled to introduce Wingstop to Hawaii and are confident that customers will immediately become fans,” said Jon Savage, a partner in Asia Pacific Restaurant Group, which operates the local franchise. “We’re inviting local residents to come in and taste what all the excitement is about.”

This is the first of two Wingstops scheduled to open in Hawaii this year: The second is expected to open in November at Kapalama Center in Kalihi.

The Mililani eatery is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to midnight.
