Focus on Windward Oahu
A muddy bunch from Huakailani School for Girls help pull invasive weeds from the lo‘i at Mahuahua Ai o Hoi in the Heeia wetlands. Together with head of school Kaori Brown (far right, with fitting last name) the Kailua students were pleased to learn they had removed more weeds than a group of ninth-grade boys. Among the helpers are Aleah Webb (in red), Heidi Davis (in pink) and Sela Goto, who is about to add mud to Brown’s hair. Photo by Keiko Akamine.
