Collect Rain And Save Money

Saving water also can save money, and Halawa Xeriscape Garden will offer a workshop on its grounds to explain the technique for outdoor water conservation.

From 10:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 25, participants can learn how collecting water cuts the amount of drinking water used for irrigating landscapes, as well as how rain barrel catchments can be installed and other effective maintenance techniques.

Workshop fee for “Saving Rain Reduces Costs and Waste” is $35 per person, which includes one pre-drilled, 55-gallon water catchment barrel with a hose bib.

Participants are responsible for transporting the barrel home and installation. (Be sure to bring a vehicle large enough to transport the barrel, as no delivery or storage services will be available.)

Those interested in just the lecture pay only $5.

Advanced registration is required to Diane Moses at 748-5363 or workshops@hbws.org.
