A Clothing Company That Cares

BY YUYA TANAHASHI business director of UNIQLO Hawai‘i

Since opening in 2018, UNIQLO Hawai‘i has been dedicated to supporting local businesses and providing LifeWear clothing to island residents. LifeWear is UNIQLO’s commitment to creating clothing that meets the needs of everyone’s daily lifestyles. Although our lives are different now, our commitment to Hawai‘i remains stronger than ever.

At our flagship store at Ala Moana Center, we carry a large selection of clothing and accessories for men, women, kids and babies. In addition to wardrobe staples, shoppers can find all of our signature lines such as AIRism, HEATTECH, DRY-EX and UT (UNIQLO graphic T-shirts), as well as our exclusive made-for-Hawai‘i collections.

Supporting local is an important part of our company culture and we’ve had the privilege of partnering with some of Hawai‘i’s favorite artists, athletes and businesses. We’ve worked with artists like Matthew Tapia and POW! WOW! Hawai‘i’s Jasper Wong. We’ve also collaborated with athletes like MMA champ Max Holloway and local stylist Crystal Pancipanci.

We’ve shown our support through our clothing with The Brands Hawaiian Loco UT Collection featuring beloved Hawai‘i brands. Since launching this collection, we’ve partnered with more than a dozen Hawai‘i businesses and showcased them globally.

Our employees are the heart of our business. We provide robust training programs and encourage career advancement by promoting within. Our amazing local staff allows us to fulfill our goal of delivering clothing that enhances customers’ lives.

The last several months have been challenging for everyone, and we’ve helped where we can. We recently donated 5,000 face masks and more than $4,000 worth of AIRism innerwear to support local medical professionals and essential workers. And, after scores of requests from customers for a comfortable face mask for everyday wear, UNIQLO started producing AIRism face masks. We received our first shipment of the reusable masks on Aug. 21 and they quickly sold out.

We are proud to be a member of the community, and we look forward to continuing to serve residents and providing high-quality affordable clothing that fits our island needs.
