Many people take the task of claims adjusting for granted. It is what we do here at John Mullen & Company. We are an independent adjusting firm comprised of professional licensed adjusters and other claims associates who handle thousands of claims per year for some of the most prominent companies in Hawaii and on the Mainland. As a multi-line claims firm, we handle residential and commercial property claims, auto accidents, workers’ comp, TDI and other, more complicated types of claims — even medical malpractice. We do not sell insurance. Claims are our specialty, and we believe we attempt to do business with aloha/pono in all aspects of our company.
I am very proud to announce that we celebrate a milestone this year: 55 years of doing business in Hawaii. We started the same year Hawaii became a state. The founders of this company, my parents, John and Margaret Mullen, have left a legacy and contributed to the history of these islands — working with many businesses, organizations and people over the years. I wish that they could be here today to join me in toasting our employees, the many people we have done business with and the people of Hawaii, whom they loved. We love this state and its people, and look forward to our centennial celebration.
A company is made by the employees. We now have 78 dedicated employees, and it is because of them that we have been able to maintain a successful business for 55 years. Our company has to be always ready “on a dime” to act, and get into the field, if necessary, as we just experienced with Hurricane Iselle. It takes a lot of preparation.
We always have made sure that we are active in community service, which is very important to me and all of the employees. Helping in the community — whether it is involvement with Hawaii Foodbank, Lokahi Giving Project, working at the homeless shelter, fundraising for victims of the Philippines hurricane and Japan tsunami — is a high priority for all of us. It carries on the tradition established by my parents.
