Chamber Music Opens 33rd Season At Paliku

Classical music returns to the Paliku Theatre stage at 7:30 p.m. next Monday for opening night of Chamber Music Hawaii’s 33rd season.

In keeping with the group’s habit of introducing audiences to things both established and unknown, CMH’s Tresemble, alongside Jonathan Korth on piano, will perform three pieces from Gustav Holst (Terzetto), Eric Ewazen (Ballade, Pastorale & Dance) and Johann Nepomuk Hummel (Septet in D minor). Hummel was Mozart’s most famous and only full-time student.

Refreshments by Jacquelyn Maly will be available at intermission, with proceeds going to the theater. After the concert, fans may join the artists for a talk-story session in the second-floor lobby.

The music doesn’t stop Sept. 8, of course. CMH continues its 7:30 p.m. shows at Paliku through next year on Nov. 17, Feb. 16, March 9, April 6 and May 11.

Tickets cost $30 and $25 and can be purchased at the door (from 6:45 p.m.), by phone at 489-5038 or online at chambermusichawaii.org. CMH also sells subscriptions for the nine-concert season.
