Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii

Russell Ryan has been promoted by Hawaiian Airlines to the position of managing director-treasury. Ryan had held the title of senior director-fleet acquisition for Hawaiian since June 2008.
Melvin Mow has been appointed to First Hawaiian Bank’s senior management committee. Mow is FHB’s executive vice president and chief risk officer responsible for the oversight of credit, operational, market, compliance and regulatory risk. Mow began his banking career with FHB in 1972 as a management trainee.
William Brizee has been appointed by the International Council of Shopping Centers Inc. to the Certified Development, Design and Construction Professional (CDP) Admissions Governing Committee. Brizee’s role will be to support all ICSC certifications and to represent the interests of CDPs.
Mark Saiki has been promoted to assistant manager of Hawaii National Bank’s Kapiolani Branch. Most recently Saiki who had joined HNB in 2007 had been working as a loan officer. Saiki will be responsible for business development, consumer and commercial loan underwriting, and overseeing the branch’s operations.
Derek K. Minakami has been announced as the new principal at Kaneohe Elementary School. Minakami was the 2001 State Teacher of the Year and has been one of four finalists for National Teacher of the Year. Minakami served as vice principal at Kahaluu Elementary School and is currently the project manager for Race to the Top Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) project.
