Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii

Raymond Vara has been appointed president of Hawaii Pacific Health. Vara joined the health care system in 2002 and currently oversees its day-to-day operations. Under Vara’s leadership, over the past 10 years Hawaii Pacific Health’s hospitals have increased patients served by 46 percent.
Marcel Bekers has been named Mobi PCS vice president of sales. Bekers has more than two decades of telecommunications and sales experience in the U.S. and Europe. As VP of sales, Bekers is responsible for indirect and direct sales distribution of Mobi PCS products and services, as well as statewide retail operations through its 12 stores. Most recently, Bekers served as director of sales of U.S. Cellular’s North Carolina operations.
Kary Morihara has been appointed director of training and development at Aloha Air Cargo, Hawaii’s largest airfreight carrier. She brings more than a decade of experience in management, instruction and training program development to this newly created position. Morihara will focus her efforts on the creation of a consolidated training and development department at Aloha Air Cargo. Her key responsibilities include developing training programs and materials for all employees, from entry to executive level, in accordance with company goals and standards.
Yu-Jen Wang has been promoted to manager of Aloha Pacific Federal Credit Union’s Waimalu branch. Wang previously worked at Wells Fargo Financial in Hawaii, and most recently served as branch manager at American Savings Bank. Wang will be responsible for the profitability, administration and supervision of the branch and the promotion of teamwork, service excellence, relationship building and staff professionalism. He also will establish and implement operational, business and service objectives, oversee branch staffing and training, and generate reports to track performance.
