Bloody Mary Reprise In DHT’s ‘South Pacific’

South Pacific comes to more northern waters later this month when Diamond Head Theatre presents the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.

The original show, which opened on Broadway in 1949, follows a group of American sailors stationed on a South Pacific island where they struggle with love and racial prejudice amid the backdrop of World War II.

South Pacific runs March 27-29, and April 2-5, 9-12 and 16-19. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 3 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 4 p.m. Sundays.

A special “talk back” discussion will be held following the April 5 show.

Hawaii stage veteran Loretta Ables Sayre will reprise her role as Bloody Mary from the show’s 2008 Broadway revival, with Erin Fasone, Laurence Paxton, Cody Garner, Olivia Manayan and Zack Oldham also starring.

Tickets cost $15-$50 on diamondheadtheatre.com. Save your seat early — the show is expected to sell out fast. For more information, call 733-0274.
