The Best Of Me

Overall, what did you think?

The Best of Me is a touching, romantic movie.

Without giving away the ending, what was one of your favorite scenes?

My favorite scene is between Tuck (Gerald McRaney) and Dawson (Luke Bracey) in the police station. In this scene, both actors give a heartfelt performance that brought me to tears.

On a scale of one to four stars, what would you rate this film?

★★★

What did you think of the cinematography?

The cinematography is pretty yet simple.

Was the message/theme clear?

The theme of The Best of Me involves finding your first true love, losing it and having a second chance at it.

Did it remind you of any other works of film?

The plot of the movie reminded me of West Side Story and Romeo and Juliet.

Who would you recommend this movie to?

Anyone who has a romantic spirit or fans of novelist Nicholas Sparks, who wrote The Notebook and Safe Haven, will really enjoy this movie.

Did any of the actors stand out?

James Marsden and Luke Bracey portraying Dawson, and Michelle Monaghan and Liana Liberato portraying Amanda, were excellent. Sean Bridgers was extremely convincing as the evil father of Dawson.

Did you identify with any of the characters?

I adored the character of Tuck, who was played by Gerald McRaney. In his stately role, McRaney is a kind gentleman who makes a positive difference in Dawson’s life. We definitely need more Tucks in this world.

Did the soundtrack contribute significantly to the film?

The soundtrack did not contribute significantly to the film. The essence of the film is in the development of the main characters and their relationships.

Would you buy this movie when it comes out on DVD?

Not likely. The movies in my DVD collection are mainly of the classic Hawaii Five-0 series, James Bond 007, Indiana Jones and Jackie Chan movies.

What’s your favorite movie snack?

Hurricane popcorn, of course.

On a different note, what’s new with you?

I feel very fortunate to continue modeling and acting today. I was also thrilled to be cast in the principal role of a teacher in the current season of Hawaii Five-0.

I am a personal image consultant for corporate clients, pageant coach and contestant instructor for the Cherry Blossom Festival program.

During my free time, I am a hospice care volunteer for St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii.

I visit one hospice patient weekly and offer “gentle massage.” After noticing the compassionate care that my late father received at St. Francis hospital, it is my pleasure to give back to such a wonderful organization.
